I grew up in Deep River, Ontario. I then moved to Guelph, followed by Kamloops, BC, Calgary, and Ottawa before living in Nova Scotia, where I am currently ruled by 6 cats and a dog.
My first career choice was to work in a zoo, but feeling sorry for wild animals behind bars, I knew I wanted to help animals instead. I wanted to use our amazing abilities to help those that are sick and injured.
I obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Zoology from the University of Guelph, followed by a Diploma in Animal Health Technology from Cariboo College, in Kamloops, BC.
I enjoy emergency medicine, never knowing what will walk through the door. I also enjoy animal nursing, caring for those that are critically ill or injured.
What I love the most is the clinic that I work at. We have such an amazing team of people that are dedicated to the lives of people's pets, to the owners, and to one another. We offer a high standard of care, set by the AAHA Guidelines. And the veterinarians have many years of experience, providing all of us a chance to learn from them every single day.
A fun fact about myself: I participated in a volunteer spay/neuter clinic in Baker Lake, Nunavut, with the Canadian Animal Assistance Team. While there I assisted in surgeries in a remote community that does not have access to veterinary care and I also had the opportunity to go for a hike on the Tundra.
